Best Shermans

The M4 Sherman was the workhorse tank of the US Army during WW2, and one of the most produced tanks in history. It performed really well in any theatres of war it was involved in, and its variants remained an effective counter to the German armour till the very end of the war. All in all, almost 50,000 Shermans rolled off the factory floor. Furthermore, in War Thunder, the Sherman is one of the most widely used vehicles, with almost every nation having at least a single variant of the iconic tank at their disposal. So today we’re talking about the Shermans.

From personal experience : the M4A3 (105) is unbelievably inconsistent. Good armor but not a lot of different ammo options. You only have HE and HEAT which are not very trustworthy

Speaking of not every nation having shermans, Sweden had at least one sherman that they used to testing and training, so at this point I really dont see why gaijin doesnt just give them one too. Just feels weird having them be left out

I love the m4a3 (105), when you get down tiered, the 50 machine gun basically does all the work for ya.

I would have given the M51/M51(w) at least a silver. This tin-can lives up to its nickname Tommykocher/ Zippo on Br 6.0, since the armor is next to useless but the 400mm penetrating gun gave me PTSD. If I had to choose between shooting a IS-something or an Israeli Sherman with my Panther/ Tiger2 I would always shoot the Sherman because surviving a soviet 122 is more likely than surviving a 105 Heat Shell to the face.

It boggles my mind how the Sherman chasis ended up being so future proofed that it was taking out "modern" tanks during the Arab Israeli wars.

2:43 V in Sherman Vc stand for 5. British named their shermans with numbers; Sherman I(1) for M4, II(2) for M4A1, III(3) for M4A2, IV(4) for M4A3, V(5) for M4A4.
