SABRE / War Thunder

The very first years of the jet era gave us a lot of iconic designs. The Messerschmitt Me. 262… the Gloster Meteor… the Ar 234 Blitz… the Lockheed Shooting Star… the de Havilland Vampire. Aside from their propulsion system and some design choices, they were still relatively conventional aircraft, not that different from their late piston-engine brethren. It was only with the arrival of swept-wing planes when jet aircraft could push on to the next level… and the most well-known of those swept-wing fighters are the MiG-15… and the hero of this video, the legendary F-86 Sabre.

Ah yes the Sabre, probably one of the most infamous jets out there, but yet one of the most saddest jets in the game.

Such a beautiful, iconic aircraft...that is about as much fun as a prostate exam to play because of BR compression. Nothing like a 50 cal. armed 1st gen fighter going up against Cold War era fighters with afterburner, IR and radar guided missiles.

My personal “dream flight” Sabre would be the CL-13B: it has almost double the power of the first F-86A, with the quality of life improvements of later F models

The Sabre variation I want to fly is the Australian variant, the CA-27, it would make a fine addition for maybe an Australian branch of the British tree

Love this! My grandfather flew the F-86 Sabre during the Korean War and it’s always been my favorite jet fighter!!

I like the German / Canadian CL-13A because there is a user skin for this aircraft and that user skin is the plane that I can see when looking out my window.
