7 IRRATIONALLY Scary Things In Video Games

Sometimes the horror in video games isn't from the games at all - it can just be in our heads. Here are some things in games that aren't intentionally scary that still end up freaking us out.

One time I was stuck in a loop in Fallout 3 where I had my last safe file overwritten by an Autosave and I had fallen through the map right outside a door in Rivet City. I am one of those people that is tremendously scared of falling through the map, and I had to start my game over from a few levels earlier that day and tried to avoid that door as much as possible.

i actually fought with apeirophobia (fear of infinity) since i was a child, my nightmares always turned into that chaotic kinda stuff, nowadays getting lost in a game like minecraft or glitching out of the boundaries of a world give that eery feeling back

ever seen a moment in a horror game, where a creature in a frozen stance starts flying towards you at an expanding speed

This might be weird, but I was playing Cry of Fear blind, never played it or seen any significant gameplay. At one point the game was giving me a lot of ammo and I nearly cried because I knew something was coming. Boss fountains can also be rather unnerving

I have 3 major fears in games. 1.) Falling; Something about falling from great heights in video games makes my blood rush, especially if the right effects are added to the animation. 2.) Water; Just any kind of deepish water is bad. I think the worst was in Jak and Daxter where there would be this horrible song right before you were about to be attacked by that shark thing. 3.) Being stalked by an enemy that you can do nothing to. I think where this bothered me the most was in I believe it was one of the Mario games where when you look towards one of the cliff sides there are always these figures following you. If you manage to gain access to this area, they are nowhere to be found.

I miss getting lost in open-world games. Now most of open world games just put a marker on where you must go to advance the quest. It makes it a linear experience. Even one of my favorites games in recent years is faulty for that (Witcher 3).
