14 Amazing Similarities Between Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 You Probably Missed

As a prequel, Red Dead Redemption 2 is, by design, the kind of game you can enjoy without having much (or any) knowledge of what happens in the first game. But if you do have that knowledge, Red Dead 2 ensures that you will be rewarded for it in several ways, with similarities, connections, and callbacks both big and small that make it a much more rewarding and satisfying narrative experience.
There were several ways Red Dead Redemption 2 harkens back to Red Dead 1, some of them quite obvious, others much more subtle, and in this feature, we're going to talk about fourteen moments when the game displays interesting similarities with its predecessor.
This feature contains major spoilers for both Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2. If you don't want to spoilers for either of them, turn back now.

Another small similarity happens right after Dutch executes Angelo Bronte, he tells Arthur that’s “It’s either us or him. The way I see it, might as well be him.” Which is almost exactly what John says when he confronts Javier Escuella in RDR1

I did find that cool how they had jack meet Ross for the first time by the water and ends up killing him years later in a similar place. It makes it pretty interesting playing it and realizing Ross thinks he’s just a kid and no threat what so ever at the time . Never suspecting he’d kill him years later.

You forgot that long horse ride with the amazing song playing on the background as they were heading home in both games.

Another symbolic thing is that author dies on top of a mountain while Dutch dies at the bottom of one
