Glad my biggest issue was brought up in this video, which is the fact that NONE of these courses use anti-grav mode. The original retro courses that came with this game were modified to the MK8 style really well for the most part. Unfortunately, it just seems like they just copied and pasted the tracks, with the addition of one glider ramp per course or something like that. Hopefully more inspired remade courses are yet to come

As far as _ports_ go, Nintendo actually did a really good job bringing these over from Tour and making them look good on the Switch. But once you compare them to the full-on _remakes_ of older tracks in the base game, they suddenly become so much less impressive.

for coconut mall I think they reduced the " i feel im racing in a mall" effect. Now it is obviously a kart track, whether before it felt like you were racing in the middle of a real mall with the stairs and ceilings designed as such.

What really bugs me is that the tracks don’t have to look like this. There are tons of assets and textures you can recycle from the base game to make the tracks look more in line with 8 Deluxe’s artsyle. I know this because some track do have reused assets, but only for really dumb throwaway stuff like the boulders in Choco Mountain. Even something as simple as replacing Tour’s stock tree assets with the one’s from 8 would have gone a long way to making the tracks feel like they belong in the game. It’s clear that the team working on this DLC is either ridiculously small or they just don’t give a damn, and I dearly hope that it’s the former.

Feels like quantity over quality, definitely. It did sound too good to be true if you thought every track would be as polished as the original MK8 tracks I guess.

I’m torn. Being offered more courses at a fair price is good. But these courses are clearly a step back from the base courses. When DLC was offered on Wii U MK8, the courses were better than the base courses. That’s the way it should be.
