I think it’s also ok for people to be extremely disappointed. We’d love to see more power for developers to utilize (including more ram).

I’ve thought this for years, and the Switch OLED being just a handheld upgrade further convinces me that the “Switch Pro” should just be an enhanced dock that’s essentially just an external GPU. Then when Handheld hardware catches up make the next Switch. It’s kinda like a rotating thing. They make a new tablet every 3ish years then a new dock every 3ish years.

This feels like when Nintendo released the 3DS XL and still had the 3DS on the market. It was a nice upgrade if you wanted a better screen.

I’m getting the OLED, I’ve had my same switch since launch so it starting to show its age and I play tabletop mostly so the new screen is great for me. I get why certain fans would be disappointed but like with what was said Nintendo isn’t in a position in which they need to rush out a Switch Pro when the base Switch is still doing gang busters

I was skeptical of a lot of the rumors. The DLSS and 4K scaling seems to make more sense for a gen refresh, not saying that I would have loved it in the OLED model, I would have. But I play handheld 60% of the time and I have a launch model with poor battery life. So I’m getting this day 1.

If anything, I feel like the way the Switch OLED turned out may be an indication towards a more iterative successor coming sooner than we think. As I said before, we could be looking at an Early 2024 release for said system.
