Gran Turismo 7 Review - Absolutely Mind-Blowing

If I were to describe Gran Turismo 7 in a few words, it would be as follows: it is a celebration of car culture. It’s an accumulation of everything racing games should be. There is a long running “are video games art?” debate that has been part of the industry’s discourse for several years. My review won’t resolve that debate, but if games are indeed art, then Gran Turismo 7 is proof of that thesis.
It’s an intricately designed product, a beautiful racing game crafted with love and care, and most importantly, it’s true to its soul and core, something that made the original Gran Turismo games a household name all those years ago. Gran Turismo 7 is a triumph for racing games and for Polyphony Digital, and we can’t wait to see what is next for the series.

My Mom picked me up a random game Gran Turismo 3 A Spec when I was around 10 or so, I wasn’t really into cars or anything but my dad started telling me detailed history on all the car brands as I was scrolling through them. My neighbors loved the game and it really started to hook me. I played it a lot on and off and my Mom even recommended my sister play a bit to help her as she was working on her Drivers License. This was truly the only game my whole family had some interest in. This series will be forever special to me.

Played it most of today, game is amazing. Already had some pretty memorable moments. I managed to flip a 1968 fiat 500. Also had some tense races in the tokyo highways. That map is so narrow and you go so fast through those tunnels it genuinely made me scared I was going to crash every time. The sense of speed in this game is way better than past games.

Great review, I was already sold on this game being a hard cord GT fan since the first game on the PSOne. You made excellent points throughout the review.

I bought the game praying it would be great… it’s absolutely outstanding. Nothing on life is perfect, but games should be about immersion, visual prowess, audio genius and GT7 delivers! I am hooked.

When I saw the graphics after the opening presentation I couldn’t believe it. At one point I realized it was in-game generated and it totally blew me away… I’m glad I ponied up and pre-ordered! This is probably THE first racing game on a console that is currently on par with what you can get on a PC, graphics and performance-wise… the only problem I have is that it’s splitting my time an pulled me away from Horizon Forbidden West… but it’s good to have options. When I get frustrated for not making perfect cornering… I’ll smack up a couple Thunderjaws.

GT7 is simply just awesome… and so addictive! I reminisce playing GT1 on PS1, which was ALSO just as addictive! Thanks, Polyphony!
