What KILLED The Metal Gear Solid Series?

Konami killed Metal Gear, obviously - but how exactly did the Kojima Drama go down? Will Konami go on to eventually release a Metal Gear Solid 6 without him? Let's talk.

I am so glad I was around for that era of gaming. When FFVII came out I was 11 didn’t get a chance to play this on release but I borrowed it from a classmate in middle school and was immediately hooked. Yeah Kojima can be all over the place at times but dammit if he doesn’t find a way to get you hooked! RIP Metal Gear I will always look back with fond memories 🙇

I have good and fond memories of MGS 1, 2 and 3. I played MGS 4 at a friends house while I was in university years ago. I did not get any special feeling from it like I did with previous games. But I guess everything comes to an end one day. Great series overall 🎉

Even with all the fallout with Kojima and Konami, MGS is still my favorite series of all time. Nothing has even come close imo to these masterpieces.

I played it and beat like the first three metal gear solids in my younger day and they were kinda hard. I think the newest metal gears opening up making it a open world made it seriously hard cuz the sensitivity of the enemy hearing u was high like the old ones but it adds a level of difficulty when its open world. Metal gear actually fighting was good but its more sneaking around then anything. Graphics were great i just fell off. Wish they would bring back syphon filter that would be nice.

I just finished 60% of MGSV TPP a month ago and then I looked in to the controversy on the series. I found out that MSGV story is not fully finished due to the drama between Konami and Kojima. And there’s mission 51 will not exist. I am still depressed about it ever since because I just fell in love with the series, mission 51 is truly a phantom pain for me.

That scene at the end of mgs3 when you execute The Boss is still one of the most memorable, emotional and well-made gaming moments ever made.
