Mordhau - Before You Buy

Great review. One thing I wanted to add, which you kind of touched on, is that the skill ceiling is huge in this game. There’s so much more to the combat system that isn’t explained in depth in the tutorial that separate casual players from top tier players, and that’s a great thing to see in a modern game. Watch any top tier streamer do some high level dueling and you’ll see what I mean. All things considered, I see a huge future for this game and I hope it grows and improves over the next year.

I had the same feeling in the tutorial and in general my first 30 mins i had certain issues with the game i personally disliked, however the pros outweighed the cons so i continued playing. After i had accumulated about 2 hours of gametime and messing around with options and all the customisation i realised almost every single issue i had with the game had been completely solved. For example i disliked the healing system of whenever u wanted to regain lost health you would have to afk for a long duration and crouch. Then i found out u can more than just use medic bags from the floor but equip multiple pieces of healing like 4 bandages or bandages or 1 or 2 medi bags. Additionally i disliked the speed of the charcaters but the speed and momentun of ur character is baseed of the level of each piece of armor you are wearing.

The horses are actually one of my favourite parts about this game. I found the controls really easy to get used to personally, you have to remember that your mouse movement is restricted to the rotation of your character while WASD is restricted to the movement and steering of the horse. Having the horses out of the game would definitely make the experience less enjoyable for me.

Mordhau has 6 game modes. Frontline, Horde, Skirmish, Battle Royale, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch. You access Skirmish, Deathmatch, and TDM in the server browser.
