PSA - Update Your 3DS Games Before It's Too Late

Things like this make me long for the days when you could just insert a cartridge and have the full game ready to go.

This is such good advice. I’ve had a creeping feeling of dread about the future playability of my library for quite some time. In the day and age of critical fixes in day-one patches that aren’t included on the cartridge, even maintaining a purely (or mostly, in my case) physical library isn’t a safeguard of future use. I worry what will happen when the servers go down and these vital fixes and updates are no longer available.

all of these updates and games are archived and preserved, and can be obtained relatively easily via CFW. does not make this whole situation any less depressing :(
